Computers aren't invincible, in fact they are extremely fragile and can become damaged extremely easily. It's so annoying when you come to work one day and when you try to switch your computer on it does nothing. If you know about computers then you may be able to do system analysis yourself to identify the problem, but if not then you will need to call in the professionals, which can be very expensive.
There are so many different errors which can affect your windows system, including corrupted files, the Internet stops working, or applications fail to load. Sometimes even windows itself will not want to run.
There are numerous reasons why these windows system problems could occur, they can be caused by viruses, spyware, or even hardware errors. No matter what the reason is you're still having the trouble of your computer not working, so what can you do?
If it's a registry problem then you can try using a registry scanner such as Regcure, which can be downloaded from here. However this will not always work, sometimes the windows problem can be so severe that to attempt system repair you need to format your computer and reinstall windows.
Formatting and reinstalling windows is a great way to fix 99% of computer problems (anything that isn't hardware related), however it's also very severe and brutal. Don't just think that the only option is to format your computer, you should only do so as a last resort. If you do want to format then you will first need to spend time backing up all of your data, so that it isn't lost. You will also need to make sure that you have all of the driver CD's to set up all your system components and peripherals.
Using System Restore
There is however a much better and easier way of dealing with your computer when you have problems. You can use windows to create a system restore point. Most errors are caused by changes in settings in windows, this means that if you could somehow change the settings back to what they were yesterday, or when they worked then you wouldn't have any problem.
But how on earth can you know what these settings were? Well that's easy, you can use system restore to do just that. By using system restore you can create a restore point which makes it possible to roll back your computer if required.
It's really easy to create a system restore point, all you need to do is launch system tools, by clicking Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools. Here you will find an option marked System Restore which you should click.
Now click the text which says “Create Restore Point” to set up a restore point so that you can restore your computer at a later date. If you want to restore your computer then simply click on “Restore my computer to an earlier time”. This should help your system recovery efforts.
Spyware could also be causing you problems, which a system restore may be unable to fix, for this you need to have a good quality Spyware and Antivirus scanner installed
