Although there are plenty of alternative browsers out there and all of these are quite popular, particularly Firefox, Internet explorer is still without a doubt the most popular web browser out there. This is probably because it comes bundled with windows, so you don't need to install anything, and for most people it does the job perfectly well.
There are however many Internet explorer errors which can be caused by numerous things, the problem is that because Internet explorer is so popular many virus and spyware makers specifically target Internet explorer.
Fortunately there are plenty of ways to fix Internet explorer, but it all depends on what the actual problem is.
How to Fix Internet explorer
If your Internet explorer home page has changed to something that you don't like and you can't change it back then this is almost certainly because you have either a virus or a spyware infection which is affecting your Internet browser. This can be a nightmare, especially if it's a porn site and you want your children to use the Internet with you! It's just not fair that it's so easy for children to view unsuitable material on the Internet. To protect your children from obscene material on the Internet I suggest taking some time to find a parentlal control piece of software.
If a virus is causing your problem then you will need to download a virus scanner, make sure that the virus definitions are thoroughly updated and then run a thorough scan of all of the drives in your computer. One really good antivirus tool is Micro Antivirus which can be downloaded by clicking here. This antivirus tool will be able to scan your computer for viruses and help you to eradicate them.
Other Internet explorer errors could be caused by your firewall not being set up correctly and so not allowing requests from Internet explorer through. If this is the problem then you will need to read the help files in your firewalls documentation. You should be able to permit traffic from Internet explorer through fairly easily.
If you are not able to access the Internet through Internet explorer then check that your network connection is set up correctly, also check that you are not connecting through a proxy server by mistake. You may need to ask your system administrator to help you with this.
Other common problems include not being able to view images or sound in Internet explorer, this one isn't really an Internet explorer problem and is more to do with the set up of the application. If you look through the settings then you will be able to find an option for multimedia sounds and images.
Internet explorer is a great browser, especially now that Internet explorer 7 works really well! Internet Explorer 7 is the first version of IE which uses tabbed browsing. This makes it a much stronger competitor or Firefox, which is increasing in popularity! IE7 is good enough for me, so there's no reason why it's not good enough for everyone!
