Whenever you browse the Internet your computer stores files temporarily for you, these include things like videos, images, cookies and text files. All of these are silently stored onto your hard drive, this is done to try and speed up the rate a web page loads. Whenever you visit a website your browser will try to find the images already stored locally.
You might notice that web pages you open frequently load much quicker, that's because your web browser has already collected and stored a lot of the information on that site. The only bad thing about your browser doing this is that it consumes extra hard disk space which could be a waste.
These temporary Internet files can also be used to show which sites you have visited, your Internet history could be something that you don't want other people to know, in which case you will need to learn about how to erase Internet history safely.
You should spend time frequently cleaning out the temporary Internet folder on your computer, you can do this from Internet explorer, in the Internet options dialog. Alternatively you can locate the folder on your computer and have a look what's in there. You'll notice lots of media files and style sheets which are eating away at your hard drive space.
To delete Internet history you can load Internet explorer, then click Tools -> Options
Once this has loaded you will see the general tab, click the button marked “Delete Browsing History” and then select which part of the browsing history you want to remove.
If you use firefox then they call these temporary Internet files cache, to clean cache from firefox go to Tools -> Options then click on the privacy tab. Now click the Clear now button and follow the prompts on the screen. This is an effective way to delete internet file.

Cookies can be very useful for some people as they save a lot of time, being able to stay logged into a website is wonderful and very convenient.
